IMPORTANT - During the week prior to your ceremony you will have received an email advising you of the registration number you are to quote when you register. Please assist in speeding up the registration process by noting this number down and bringing it with you.
For the 10:30am Ceremony Registration Opens at 9:30am & Close at 10:00am
For the 3:00pm Ceremonies Registration Opens at 2:00pm and Closes at 2:30pm
Note: Graduands who register late may not be able to be presented in their correct order or if the ceremony has commenced possibly not presented at all. To allow time to park, collect your gown and photography (if time permits) it is recommended that graduands arrive at the venue two hours before the ceremony commences.
IMPORTANT Personal items
For safety and security reasons you are not permitted to carry personal items (handbags/mobiles etc.) with you on to the stage during your presentation to the Chancellor. Please leave any personal items with family or friends prior to registering. Following your presentation to the Chancellor you may not return to your original seat so for security and safety reasons personal items cannot be left under seats therefore please leave them with family before registering.
After you have registered you will be required to take your seat as directed by the Ushers.
For PhD Graduates
Your hire academic dress will be available for collection from the Magnetic Room on the day of the ceremony
For the 10:30am Ceremony, you may collect your gown from 8:30am.
For the 3:00pm Ceremonies, you may collect your gown from 1:00pm
Cultural Sash Presentation
Aboriginal and Torres Strait graduates will be presented with a JCU Cultural Sash at informal ceremonies commencing in the Magnetic Room (see 2 on plan) 30 minutes prior to each graduation ceremony. Presentation details will be emailed to each recipient prior to the ceremony date.
The Graduation Ceremony
Each ceremony is expected to run for approximately two and a half hours.
Graduands, you will be seated in tiered seating. If this will cause you difficulties please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may invite as many guests as you wish, admission is free and guests seats may not be reserved. Disabled seating for guest may be accessed through the Magnetic Room. Graduands are seated in reserved seating so guests may sit in any non-reserved seats in the auditorium. The auditorium will open at 9.30am for the 10.30 and 2.00pm for the 3.00pm ceremony.
Due to Fire & Safety Regulations strollers/prams cannot be taken into the auditorium (see ushers).
Smart casual, please no thongs or shorts, Neck badges and medals may be worn.
Silver Rose Photography will be providing the photographic services at the graduation.
Studio location: Follow signs through the Palm Room.
Portrait/Family Photography Sessions:
AM Ceremony - 8:00am – 9:30am then reopen immediately after the ceremony.
PM Ceremony - 12:30pm – 2:00pm then reopen immediately after the ceremony.
To ensure that graduands can be registered by the advertised close times, the photography sessions close times will be strictly adhered to.
Following the ceremony, complimentary light refreshments will be served in the forecourt (Grassed area in front of Entertainment Centre).
