The Townsville Branch of the Knights of the Southern Cross, (a Catholic Men’s organisation), has responded to a call from Caritas Australia to help with the re-construction of a Maternity Ward in a hospital in Minova, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is in an extremely poor area which is slowly recovering from a brutal civil war in which women and children were especially victimised.
To help raise the $31,000 required for this project, a Gala Dinner will be held on 31st March 2012 at Jupiters Townsville, Hotel & Casino. The event will feature the amazing Ms Tara Moss as guest speaker. Tara is best known as an internationally admired and acclaimed Super Model, Best Selling Novelist, TV Presenter, Journalist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Tara will speak about her incredible, multi-faceted life and career as well as share her experiences and ideas concerning her work in the area of women’s health issues.
The evening will include a superb meal from Jupiters new menu and the renowned 1 RAR Dance Band will be our musical entertainers for the night! There are a number of great Prizes to be won on the night, as well as an opportunity to bid for 3 sets of Tara’s Novels, each personally signed by her. This event is shaping as a real highlight on the Townsville Social Calender for 2012.
Tickets are on sale from the Townsville Entertainment Centre Box Office (Tel: 4771 4000) for the cost of $145.00 per person.
The key Objects of the Knights are the Advancement of Australia and to foster the Christian way of life.
Caritas Australia is an International Aid and Development Organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia, delivering long-term development programs in Developing Countries.
