Fri May 31, 2013 The Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre are pleased to annouce that Australia’s most successful male artist, Guy Sebastian, will be appearing at the Centre on Friday 31st May 2013. After nine successful years, Guy has earned a place in Australian music history as the Australian male artist with the most number one singles. His recent single Battle Scars (featuring US rapper Lupe Fiasco) debuted at number one on the ARIA singles chart, where it remained for an amazing six consecutive weeks. Battle Scars gave Guy his first American hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Chart. Guy performed it on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in New York City with Lupe Fiasco. Guy is looking forward to playing songs off his latest album Armageddon, which was released in October, hitting number one on the ARIA album chart. “I can’t wait to get back on the road again and play songs from my new album to all of my loyal regional fans,” Guy says. “Of course I’ll play all the old favourites too!” Guy is one of Australia’s greatest singer-songwriters and has proved his place as an Australian idol. Celtic Thunder were determined to get back to Townsville after weather conditions prevented them from their stop in Townsville in January 2013, they have selected a date in May 2014 as the weather in North Queensland is perfect at that time of year.
The world-renowned supergroup – comprised of vocalists Emmet Cahill, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, George Donaldson, Neil Byrne and Colm Keegan – continues to astonish audiences, traveling as easily across the genres of folk, traditional Irish, adult contemporary, rock and classical crossover, as they travel the world, performing for an ever-growing number of fans. Don't miss Celtic Thunder when they perform Mythology at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre on Saturday 17th May 2014. Mythology presents the perfect blend of entertainment, ideology and Gaelic spirituality, providing a modern twist on the old Celtic storytelling tradition. In addition to the six main vocalists, the tour will also feature strings, guitar, percussion, whistles, pipes, guitars and more in the eight- piece Celtic Thunder band. The tour's musical director is David Munro, who also plays keyboards in the show. Named Top World Music Artist twice by industry bible Billboard, Celtic Thunder's six male soloists perform both solo and ensemble numbers.
